Het biltong mes 2023: de Victorinox Hunter Pro M Alox.
Yihaa! Sinds mijn 16de ben ik fan van het beroemde rode Victorinox Swiss Army mes en ik ben dan ook apetrots nu de opvolger, dit hypermoderne Victorinox zakmes, te kunnen aanbieden en dit is hoe een modern Zwitsers zakmes er uitziet anno 2023!
Ga hier een biltong mee te lijf en hij schrikt zo hard dat hij vanzelf in plakjes uiteenvalt.
De Victorinox Hunter bezit ik nu zelf een paar maanden bijna 2 jaaren ik gebruik hem oa regelmatig wanneer ik biltongen aan het vacumeren ben. Als het stuk vlees wat grillig gevormd is dan vind het vacumeerplastic dat niet fijn dus dat stukje moet er dan vanaf. (En verdwijnt natuurlijk in mijn mond. Wat een baan.) Voorheen gebruikte ik hier standaard mijn klassieke Buck 110 Hunter voor maar vanaf de herfst kwam deze Victorinox Hunter in mijn leven en sindsdien voelt de Buck hopeloos ouderwets aan en is hij per direct afgedankt gepensioneerd.
De Victorinox ligt beter in de hand, is lichter maar heeft toch voldoende gewicht om lekker mee te kunnen werken en is met 1 hand te openen. Als je anno 2023 nog een zakmes koopt dat niet met 1 hand te openen is dan heb je een klassieker aangeschaft voor in de vitrine, laten we eerlijk zijn.

The company was founded in 1884 as the workshop of Karl Elsener in Ibach. Elsener in 1891 co-founded Schweizerischer Messerschmiedverband, an association of Swiss knife manufacturers. Elsener and his colleagues from this time delivered knives to the Swiss army. In 1892, most of Elsener's colleagues left the enterprise, as it became apparent that Solingen manufacturers could deliver at a lower price. Elsener persisted in competing with Solingen, incurring severe financial losses.
Elsenser's Schweizer Offiziers- und Sportmesser was patented in 1897, later marketed internationally as Original Swiss Army Knife. This knife was not adopted by the Swiss Armed Forces as ordnance, but its commercial success allowed the company to recover financially.
On the death of his mother in 1909, Elsener named his company "Victoria" in her honour. The introduction of the Swiss coat of arms as company logo dates to the same year. In 1921, the company was renamed to the present "Victorinox", a portmanteau of "Victoria" and "inox", an abbreviation for acier inoxydable, the French term for stainless steel.[5]
